here you have a little history of house music in one package. i ve lost control (an ode to the sleazy b / marshall jefferson trax records release) is played by ame, radio slave, phonique, shinedoe, d julz, alex smoke and more.

the truesoul imprint represents the somewhat soulful side of its owner - adam beyer. here, cari lekebusch takes up the challenge and produces two wonderful tracks. on the a side we are treated to a wonderful deep 808 driven groove with eerie pads, neat reverses and cool cowbells that creates a wonderful intensity. on the flip side again the deep groove is apparent with neat vocoded vocal samples and fat bass before there is a cool break and the main synth sound appears in the track to give it a seriously intense lift

gaetano parisio returns to supreme form here for his very own conform label with this monster 2 tracker. gaetano has always managed to be diverse in his style with his southsoul and conform labels and here he manages to create a powerful dance floor killer that will surely appeal. the a side is driven by a monster growling analogue bassline groove and razor sharp production punctuated by cool edits and a superb break which simply builds the intensity whilst the flip is a menacing minimal stripped down groove that simply builds and builds. superb

just one thing to say: all killer and no filler!

this is quite simply one of the most glorious records you will hear this year. it would be easy to lazily reference it against classic period rephlex/planet mu stuff (oops, i just did!), and indeed it appears to share some of the same heritage (even going so far as to feature a remix of rephlex artist global goon in its tracklisting) - but chris leary aka ochre is obviously a man on his own mission. gorgeously lush, but at the same time super-funky…as electronic as kraftwerk starring in a remake of tron, yet somehow as pastoral and organic as edward elgar…much like his label-mate ed chamberlain, leary manages that tricky task of being supremely technical in his programming and arrangements, but without losing the heart and soul of the music amidst all the studio trickery. you know that old chestnut often said when referring to vintage or classic music, >they dont make them like that any more<? well they do…and here it is! simply fantastic.
